The food and the accompanying wine selection are PERFECT .. Our favourite entrée l'Escargot à Maroilles is out of this world and the main plates and desserts were equally so delicious - just like the very first time we were there .. Our host was very helpful in assisting us with selecting a great wine that went so well with the entrée and main plates AND it was not at all expensive - A BIG THANK YOU for such a memorable time!! We are leaving France tomorrow going home to Sydney and we are already looking forward to our next visit next year to L'Etable in Lille!
Small menu (usually a good sign) plus some specials (and the current wine list) handwritten in an exercise book (which added to the charm immediately). Owner was very pleasant. We were amazed by the quality for the very reasonable price (food and wine). Delicious starters (lasagne with goat's cheese and smoked salmon and vege raviolis). Thought these were going to be hard to beat but excellent main courses as well (pork in beer and cod 'fish and chips' but a bit different to your average British takeaway! Really pleased to have eaten here (we spotted it whilst walking round the Old Town earlier in the day and were very glad we chose to try it)
Our dinner was a sheer pleasure from start to finish. Although the menu is limited each dish is excellent and good value, as is the wine. The owner was charming. Well worth a visit but it would be a good idea to book well in advance - the restaurant is very small!
Very cosy restaurant with friendly staff. You can see it is a family business and that they take care of their custumers and love to cook homemade dishes. Real recommendation for lunch!
Excellent food in an original French setting. Just on the outskirts of Veille Lille, we found this cozy inn. Appetizers ordered were snails in creamy cheese sauce and tartin Endive, both very tasty with a bottle of beer. Main dish was the potatoes in Morailles sauce, with bacon. Hearty and rich! Desserts just a piece of Lemon meringue pie and an espresso. Total bill for two 55 Euro.
