Les Remparts - Lille

Found this place while strolling town and the locale is beautiful and exciting. Decoration is nice, the meals we chose were very good (high end cuisine, nice menu). Final bill a bit steep (€102 for a cheaper wine with two starters and meals only). Definitely a good time nonetheless.

Our booking was listed as 8:45 on their system despite us having a confirmation email that it was for 8 PM. We were seated anyway so not a problem but table was right in a corner next to the fire escape, not exactly romantic. Waitress came over within 2 mins to ask for our order and seemed annoyed when we said we weren't ready yet, the menu was in French so it takes us Brits a bit of time to figure it out, even so, 2 mins is a bit pushy and they hadn't even asked if we wanted drinks. After that we were largely ignored and had to wave to get attention. Food was OK but took about 45mins after starter cleared for mains to arrive. Both tasty but V small portions and my beef was rare not medium as requested so couldn't eat all of it. After a confusing discussion with the waitress we received the bill and left cash on the table, leaving a 10% tip despite the poor service. After leaving we were surprised to see the owner chasing us down the street asking if there was a problem with paying!?! We told him we had left money on the table and went on our way, very odd. Lovely place but let down by poor service and overpriced average food.

One of the best restaurants I have ever been! Wonderful food, perfect wines, beautiful location and design - all of this made my stay in that restaurant just perfect! I would highly recommend this place for everyone. Just food is more than delicious.

We organised a weekend in Lille and decided to book a table for 8. There were 3 menus, 30, 42 or 50 Euros for a 3 meal course. I ordered a 42 euros full menu, and around the table we all choose a different menu, so we had a good overview of the service.In a nutshell - no problem with the booking- great waiters- good choice of staters, especially foie gras- Main dish was alright, but with a couple of disappointment especially the couscous - we did not like our desserts, please avoid the cheesecake. It is nothing but a cheesecake. I would recommend to skip the dessert- the wine selection was fine So I ended up paying in total 51 euros including the wine we shared.I don t think we ll go again
