We found this restaurant at lunchtime on the Friday, filled with people, but were dead hungry, so persuaded them to squeeze us in and am I glad they did! While the service was bitty, the food was excellent. I had the scallops with some sauce and rice and it was a goodly size! All the dishes were a reasonable size. Once they'd taken our order, the service was perfectly good they seemed to have only two people serving for a very packed restaurant, which is why it'd taken some time to get things kicked off.
I was looking for a place with sidewalk dining on Boulevard de la Liberte so I could get a late lunch/early dinner and watch the Tour de France peloton race by. It was very quiet when I arrived about 3:30. I ordered Jambon... glace... Between my French and their English I thought I had ordered a ham and cheese sandwich and ice cream. It was so much better than expected! First it was a big slice of the best tasting ham on a bed of lettuce with a side of fries and a really yummy warm mustard sauce. I could not eat it all, especially as dessert was on the way. The dessert was amazing. It was strawberry sorbet in a sundae glass with real strawberries and whipped cream on top. Delicious! The proprietors are flexible and entrepreneurial. They gradually brought out all of the tables and chairs to the sidewalk to serve people where they could watch the race. They did a brisk business.
