This brassiere is located out of the town centre but only a 10 minute walk from the Porte de Paris. We dined there on Sunday evening when a lot of the restaurants were closed. It was easy to book online. We both had a fish dish which we enjoyed. The decoration is not elaborate but it has a pleasant atmosphere. We appeared to be the only tourists in there. The service was pleasant and efficient.
Monday evening in Lille when most restaurants are closed--La Consigne is open--unpretentious with basic decor--but terrific food at very modest prices-- my duck was outstanding and the poached cherries just gave it that extra lift. My wife had the seared tuna which was cooked rare as good tuna should be--this is great cooking keeping it simple--no Michelin inspectors would bother to visit--but we have dined at 2 and 3 star Michelin restaurants that were long on prevention but short on substance. If you are in Lille, give La Consigne a try--you will not be disappointed!!!
My wife and I eat out 100 plus times a year. It takes a special restaurant to excite either one of us. We are usually very critical and are reluctant to highly score most establishments. This is a very unpretentious place with a zero ambiance factor. The cuisine is very good and the service as well. My wife had the cold tomato soup ( gazpacho ) which was creamier than the US version. It also included ricotta ravioli. My starter was veal carpaccio with a zucchini tartar. Delicious! For a main course my wife chose a "cote de couchon" which we soon found out was a pork chop. This was a 10 ounce chop served with a red cabbage chutney drizzled over the top. The side for this dish was a seasoned couscous. My main was a very rare fresh tuna steak that tasted like it had been caught this morning. It was served with sliced sautéed celery and a very minimal melted cheese topping. Very unusual but tasty. On top of this we shared a bottle of wonderful southern France rosé. We finished off the meal with the gourmet coffee dessert which consisted of a tasting of five desserts with beverages. I splurged and also ordered a Mandarin Napolean which is an orange flavored liqueur. This service was delivered by a very customer focused duo of Karen and Clelia. They clearly understand the concept of good customer service. If we come back to Lille this will be on our list of " must return to" spots.
Wellbalanced menu for foodies. I think there was a max of 5 dishes, butt they all sounded delicious. Price / quality on the spot. The beef angus was ridiculously tasty...
