Located in the ever popular Mile-End area, this resto is really a perfect little jewel; the cosy space is simple, with dark tables, white walls decorated with Italian movie posters, and a simple open kitchen where you can pear in and watch the chefs at work. Osteria de Elda serves an array of classic Italian food and also had an excellent list of privately imported wines. The waiter was ever so pleasant and entertaining; we really enjoyed the service and personable touch. As for the food, I started the evening with the tomato and burrata appetizer; the tomato wasn't very ripe so a little tougher that expected but still sweet and it perfectly accompanied the soft and savoury burrata. I would recommend the dish be served with some bread to really dig into that cheese! For the main, I ordered the ricotta gnocchi in tomato sauce which was just exceptional!! If I could have licked that plate without looking totally inappropriate, I would have! The gnocchi, which are made in house, were like little pillows of heaven smothered in a tangy but sweet tomato sauce. The portions were perfect as well keeping me fully satisfied; we actually skipped dessert!! I also enjoyed a delicious Italian Riesling and Chardonnay; with many options by the glass, I was able to find the perfect pour with the help of the staff. Overall, I really enjoyed my evening; if you are looking for an evening out in a comfortable space with affordable and delicious food, and a great glass of wine or two, I'd recommend Osteria. I will surely return.
