Parking was quite the feat, lots of people on the weekends! The snack selection did not disappoint. The fruits and vegetable section sadly did not have the item I was looking for, and the employees tried to help as much as they could, of course, there were some that just pointed in a general area and hoped for the best!
Excellent selection. The sheer amounts of different types of products, or variations of the same product, is amazing! I find myself filling up a shopping carts with all of the things I love from Asian cuisine. Selection of meats and produce is very vast, exoctic fruits and vegetables, live seafood and fresh desserts. Whether you just want to find your favorite snack, or maybe an entire meal. This is the place to go for the best selection of Asian products.
Great place to try new products from overseas and to expand your palates, however if you 're looking for more north american products you 'd be better going to a place like Super C or Maxi. The bread section at Kim Phat was really good and they have an incredible selection of eggs, like, to someone like me who has only been here once before, seeing their selection and variety of different types of eggs was incredibly eye opening, they also have a very big selection of different teas and although I 'm allergic, their selection of live seafood is worth the visit just to see how many different types they haveUnfortunately it can get very very busy and the store layout is confusing for first time shoppers since the layout is different from most local grocery stores (produce is towards the back here whereas in north american grocery stores produce and fruits are usually the first thing as you walk in)So bring patience and understanding and an open mind when shopping here for the first timeAlso one thing that 's neat is they have the Asian versions of North American foods such as lays chips in fresh cucumber flavor or what we call regular or nature they have american flavor Go there even just to see what they have
The veggies are the cheapest in town, on average. Especially the ones you'd use in Asian cooking like scallions and cilantro. Much more suited to Asian cooking than other supermarkets.A problem is that Tofu always goes bad a month or so before the best before date (unopened). I don't know if it's a storage or transportation problem, but shouldn't be on my end since I always put them in insulated bags with ice packs. If it's like two weeks before best before date, no need to check, just throw it in the garbage. You'll spare yourself from some bad smell. This doesn't stop me from buying tofu, but definitely something to keep in mind. They have a huge variety of instant and frozen food, including but not limited to dumplings, cold noodles, etc. But most of them are a bit expensive, but still cheaper than takeout. Some stuff like cold noodles is 10$ per pack (of two) (I mean 5$ each is A LOT more expensive than instant noodles which average to 1-2$ each even for the most expensive ones, but MUCH less expensive than any food at a restaurant, and you only need to boil some water and chop a cucumber) and I didn't find any cheaper elsewhere. But I did find cheaper dumplings at costco, although as always not much variety but still decent taste.
