The dolsot bibimbap comes in a hot stone bowl and continues cooking as you eat so it's delicious. Plenty of vegetables and meat, and quite filling so I took 1/2 to go. It's a very simple restaurant with efficient service. They bring you all-you-can-eat small appetizers in the beginning (kimchi, coleslaw, etc). A neighbourhood Korean gem!
Korea has seriously injected some kind of drugs into my blood vessels. I crave Korean foods everyday ever since I came back from my trip. My mother probably knew about my withdrawal due to my loss of appetite from “normal” food so she suggested going to a Korean restaurant in Montreal Island. Usually, I would oppose to the idea because everyone knows how much I hate finding parking in Montreal. However this time, I jumped right away to the idea.
Above average food, but pricy. I recommend their kimchi soup and bibimbap. The bibimbap is quite pricey (something like $15), but it exceeds that of other restaurants. The serving is large, and it tastes fresh.
First time; Korean BBQ, in Montreal. I've had Korean BBQ for the first time in Toronto, a second and third time in Calgary, and my first time with a friend here in Montreal; at La Maison de Seoul 5030 Rue Sherbrooke O. <br/ <br/ My first impressions of the place were that it had a quaint aesthetic to it, and I love that about it!<br/ The host was very informative and friendly, and from what I understood is that it was family owned too. Not like any other place I've been before, in the sense that most restaurants are all about customer acquisition; i.e: flipping tables and maximizing daily profits. La Maison de Seoul was the opposite, I felt treated well, and respected as a customer. I'll tell you why in a moment. But first ! I absolutely loved that it was a BYOW (bring your own wine) restaurant ! I was a little disappointed that it wasn't an all you can eat though, as cooking your meal for yourself is a fun activity especially if you are on a date, and want to impress your lady =P But honestly, it wasn't such a huge deal not to either... the proportions were staggering, and I'm the type of guy who has his fill, and I was full, and still we had a lot to take home !<br/ <br/ The appetizers/side dishes are continuously brought to the table as you please, and the meat proportions were plenty for two people..<br/ <br/ And the one thing I must mention, this restaurant closes at 10pm on weekends.. my friend and I left at midnight, as we were finishing our wine and enjoying our conversation. The owners just sat there and were having their meal too, and we weren't rushed to leave.. this reminds me of how it is customary in Seoul, Korea, that restauranteurs close up when you are ready to leave, not the other way around. I loved that ! I will definitely be going back there again soon !!<br/ <br/ Korean BBQ all you can eat is great, but honestly, the portions are perfect there, you will not be displeased ! <br/ And the dessert, amazing ! Tempura Ice cream, yum !! Need I say more :P
Scrumptious food with cheap prices. Excellent service. Good ambiance. Clean. Can bring your own wine. I already visited other korean restaurants in Montreal but this tops them all. I'm sure im gonna eat at this restaurant again to try their other specialties.
