We were warmly greeted and shown to our table. Initially, we were given the main menu which had some vegan options marked on it, but when we asked, they brought us a separate vegan menu. There were plenty of options for starters, mains, and desserts, all of which sounded delicious making it hard for us to choose. We ended up ordering tomato, basil, and almond bake for starters, and caramelized apples for mains. The food arrived promptly and was really tasty. We later found out that we could have ordered greens or salad as sides, which would have complemented our meals perfectly. For dessert, the staff remembered our vegan dietary requirement and brought us the vegan menu. Once again, we were spoilt for choice and decided on the treacle tart with pecans and the chocolate cake. If you go to Whittington Arms for one thing, make sure to try the Treacle Tart - it's amazing! The chocolate cake was also delicious, but the Treacle Tart was on a whole other level.
We celebrated my brother's birthday at the Whittington Arms. He had heard good things about it from some friends, so we were excited to find it listed on Happy Cow. Upon arrival, we received a warm welcome and were seated at our table. Although the main menu had some vegan options marked, we were grateful when the staff brought us a separate vegan menu upon request. The menu had various appetizers, mains, and desserts, making it difficult for us to choose. We ended up ordering the tomato, basil, and almond bake and the caramelized onion cake, both of which were delicious. We later found out we could have also ordered greens or salads to accompany our meals. For dessert, the staff remembered our dietary preferences and brought us the vegan menu, offering us a variety of choices. We decided on the treacle and pecan tart, as well as the chocolate tart. The treacle tart was particularly outstanding and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Whittington Arms. The chocolate tart was also tasty, but the treacle tart truly stood out.
