The fish and chips cost £16.99 and were worse than Young's frozen cod portions. The fish was soggy and unpleasant, the chips were frozen, and the tartare sauce came in a sachet. The mushy peas were cold. The dessert, a brownie, was so burnt that I couldn't even break it with a spoon. My starter was taken away before I had finished it. I have had better meals at Wetherspoon's for £10, and this meal cost £30. The restaurant was quiet on a Friday night, so there is no excuse. The service was pretty good, so I don't blame the waitress. My date paid for the meal, but if I had been paying, I would have complained and sent the dessert back.

I was disappointed with the food at Mercure. The price per person was over £100. The food quality was rated as 5 out of 10, the service was rated as 3 out of 10, and the atmosphere was rated as 3 out of 10.
The food was okay, but there were not many options available. The service was also unreliable, as our server was brand new and had not been briefed by the kitchen staff.
The Mercure Hotel offers delicious food and is conveniently located directly off the M40. It's a comfortable option for those visiting Oxford or exploring the Thames area.
