Entering the whole Schloss Morsbroich Castle ground your first stop needs to be the shop with a class of its own.....you have to purchase your entrance ticket to any of the events taking place in the 'Castle', here. The shop is run by freelance staff..
The location is beautiful but the food was average and the service really poor. Imagine how great this place could be with a little attention to details..

We had a company evening dinner at the Schloss Morsbroich restaurant recently which I was really looking forward as I like the stylish surroundings of this establishment. In fact, living not so far away, I walked over from home along with my dog. I was...the last to arrive and all the others in the party were nibbling at the starters which were plates of the Schloss anti-pasta. I quickly joined in and sipped on a glass of what I assume was Geldermann Sekt sparkling white wine. For the main course I went for the cordon bleu, steakhouse fries (simple chips if the truth be told) and a small side salad. I personally didn't find the menu to be too adventurous sadly the rump steak was not available. And my cordon blue was simply boring nothing special but a bit out of place in such a lovely place... For wine we had a bottle of Monte Antico from Toscana at a whopping Euro. For those preferring white wine there was a bottle of Peth Wetz Grauburgunder at Euro. For dessert I chose the pineapple carpaccio with creme brule which was nice. And as a nice gesture to finish our visit we were offered a free digestif an Austrian herbal liquor not dissimilar to Jaegermeister. Service throughout was very pleasant, informal and friendly with our waitress going out of her way to converse with us in English. For most of the evening we practically had the place to ourselves which was, one the one side nice and discrete but, on the other side a worrying testimony to the popularity of the restaurant. Maybe we just chose the wrong evening to come. But to be honest, even though I live quite close I won't be rushing back here again with family and friends.
