The mussels in white wine were generous and tasty. Lots of celery and onions but very nice wine sauce. The fries and sauces good. Thewine and service first rate. The lonsyer would not be on the order next time, bit mussels, salads and oysters are worth eating here. Great location.
Since 1992, the menu reads. That’s almost 30 years in one of Leuven’s most competitive restaurant streets and the place was nearly full in a week night. How they do it? A limited and classic selection of mostly Belgian specialities. So we had large, firm meat balls in a bit of tomato sauce, a stew of pork cheeks with a brown beer sauce, as variation on the classic beer beef stew, and a special of the day, “zeewolf” (Atlantic wolffish or woof) with carpet shell clams for me. The latter was the best choice, though it’s hard to name a dish after just 2 shells on my plate (the grey shrimp somewhat made up for it). My dinner mates expected a bit more excitement for the price of their simple dishes. Excellent Troubadour Blond beer, though quite pricey ...
The dishes are good and traditional. A bit long waiting time.
