It brings back wonderful memories of my childhood. The main draw of this bakery is the unique experience, the welcoming atmosphere provided by the friendly shopkeeper, and the affordability of their delicious baked goods. These treats are not mass-produced in a factory; they have a homemade touch that adds character and flavor. Overall, I highly recommend this bakery for a delightful and tasty treat.
I often pop into the bakery as they have a good selection of cakes pastries , rolls and pies. I especaily like the custard snails.
This place relies on tourist customers that buy items on a once in their lifetime basis, because I guarantee you, customers will not return. Their food is really poor quality and tastes as though made with the cheapest ingredients. The place even cuts costs on wages as the Asian woman has her 8 (or so) year old daughter working at the register. I regretfully bought a spinach pastry which had black spinach with breadcrumbs as a filling and was extremely oily. Inedible that I threw most of it in the bin. I also bought a chocolate cookie which tasted like No Frills chocolate cake mix. Again, straight in the bin. Waste of money! Avoid at all costs!!!
I grew up in Leura and ate more than my fair share of the Chicken & Mushroom pies from the Chelsea. I love the fact that I can go back and they're still just as good as they were when I was little.
For a tourist wanting a take away pie or cake this shop is ok. In my opinion the range is very poor and doesn't have eye appeal and the staff are near to hopeless. I've given up on this one too many other options in Leura.
