Refuge du Plan - Les Allues

GREAT food! and beautiful view! Great place to hang out after climbing in du midi. It did require a short hike from plan l'aiguille but it's totally worth it

Surprisingly great food, for a mountain refugeFriendly staff.

Ride the Aiguille du Midi ski lift up halfway (Plan de l'aiguille) and then take a little hike down the mountain on the trails.

This refuge can be reached on foot from meribel and takes 30 mins on a snow track. Becareful as you pass another refuge restaurant ten minutes before reaching this gem so dont make a mistake. We reached the refuge by skiing off piste down a great descent from the top of the fruits and wow it was fun, especially for my 13 yearl old doing his first off piste. Tartiflette and crossiflette were good and copious and gave us good strength for our 30 min walk next to the lake to get back to mottaret. What were the chances of bumping into a south african who was walking, but has a son at the same school in cape town as my boy. What are the chances of that in a refuge which is inaccesible by piste. The refuge has a 5 room and a 6 room accom which we will definitely book for a night next year to sleep overnight and have a jolly. Our waitress is the girlfriend of the refuge owner and absolutely delightful. Our nicest waitress of the holidays always smiling

It was the same menu you get all over the mountain - the difference was that this was cooked like it should be: real Savoie food!
