Chez Boulan - Lège-Cap-Ferret

A pleasant, simple and warm place. We ate delicious oysters with a good white wine and delicious pork pâté. I highly recommend ! Very pleasant, simple and courteous waiters. I want to go back! Ps: we went there out of season in November. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch

We took a day trip from Bordeaux down to Arcachon, and then onto Cap-Ferrat to sample some of the world’s best oysters. Chez Boulan is about a minute walk away from the main port that you arrive at, but it’s a wonderful walk that...takes you past lots of boutiques and restaurants. We chose Chez Boulan due to its great reviews, and we were not disappointed! We hadn’t thought to book in advance, but we arrived an hour or so before they were due to close for lunch (they close at and reopen at for dinner) and they had a few spots outside for us to choose from. This dining experience really was like nothing else. The primary dish on offer are oysters (they’ve won several awards) but there are prawns, sea snails and whelk on offer too. We sampled the succulent crevettes and they were so sweet and fresh. The oysters that followed were truly like no oyster that we’d ever sampled. You can choose from three sizes and the large ones were absolutely huge! So delicious and fresh washed down with a wonderful dry white wine can’t go wrong! The service was fantastic and the view and outside set up was just extraordinary. It felt like a little slice of paradise for me. A wonderful dining experience that I’ll treasure forever.

The primary item on the menu at Chez Boulan are oysters although they have great shrimp and good house wine...after all, you are near Bordeaux. France! Normally, I would have given Chez Boulan a However, we had an issue i want to address just...in case you go there. While I am sure the oysters are great; my wife is allergic to oysters, but likes other seafood like shrimp.. We explained (in our best French) this to the staff who speak primarily French. At one point we thought we were going to be asked to leave if we would not order oysters. but the staff was eventually accommodating and our waitress did a great job. You will definitely want to sit outside..the wharf is best but anywhere is fine! The views were great as were our shrimp. By the way, the condiment for shrimp along the coast is a homemade mayo with herbs. Likely not what you are used to if you are from the US like us, but I liked it.
