After waiting around 40 minutes, the bartender came and informed us that they couldn't find the squid, so we all decided to order the crispy chili beef instead. When the food finally arrived, one bowl was filled with large pieces of beef while the other two bowls were only half full of small, rock-hard pieces that were impossible to eat. We sent them back, and after 3 minutes, more beef arrived, but it was still frozen in the middle. We complained again, and were offered dessert, but it never arrived after 20 minutes in an empty pub. Even the loaded fries were the worst I've ever had. I left feeling sick and hungry.
It's a while since we went here, since giving up my car , but we took our daughter her partner there, last week. We all chose from a comprehensive menu, and as usual I opted for the chicken n' leek pie. Short pastry and more than simply scrumptious. All agreed that their choices were equally satisfying. And the plates couldn't have been more full. As usual, the area is spotless clean. And whilst the weather holds, a great outdoors seating area. Even a DJ providing the music for entertainment.
Sunday was our first visit to this pub. Firstly it is set within a beautiful setting right next door to Kirkstall Abbey with lovely walks. The pub is very traditional, spotlessly clean with welcoming, friendly staff and an outdoor beer gardens next to an open field with plenty of room for a game of football, rounders or cricket. I was mostly impressed with the meals, we had tradition Sunday dinner which was delicious, served with roast potatoes, just like my mother used to make!! Already looking forward to our next visit. Thank you to Sharon all the staff.
4 of us visited the Vesper Gate for tea, it was lovely, all freshly cooked, we would definatley recommend to others.
After having a disappointing experience with the food served a Sunday before closing, I had promised never to return to this pub. However, I met some family members today at Vesper Gate and decided to eat there, and I am very happy to have. The new menu has a good selection of food and all fresh cooked to start. I had the southern fried chicken burger that was to die and the rest of my family couldn't stop talking about how well the meals were. the staff of the bar was very friendly and welcoming and deviated to make sure we had everything we needed. I'll recommend this pub to my friends from now on. I'm so glad I came back. Follow the good work.
