I save any reviewing words I have for the deplorably bad and the exceptionally good. Belgian Beer Cafe Transit in Edmonton airport falls into the deplorably bad category. After security - an airport restaurant's mandate differs from your average lingering eatery. I arrived and seated myself as per the sign. The server ignored me or was unaware of my arrival. Once arriving in the area she served the fellow beside me that arrived after me and when I looked to her to order a beverage she gave me the raised finger and said "Gimme a minute". I waited. She served my neighbour.I waited. She eventually arrived and said "what's up"?Nary a hello nor "how are you"... I left and stated that all I wanted was a coke and a menu and I didn't find the "what's up" greeting appropriate. I stood outside the restaurant in the departure area as my phone had rung with a client - I couldn't walk nor move away as I engaged. In the next 5min I witnessed each and every server glare, stare and revere me as the ogre that left. Ah! Now perhaps I am being over sensitive? Perhaps they weren't talking about me with stink eye? Perhaps I am just one of those insecure, selfish folks that has to be poopy pants about everything?Nope. I am forgiving and generally chilled. Mediocrity I don't write reviews on. This was rudeness; unawareness of the timeliness of travellers and a server with a lack of manners, civility and dedication to the profession of serving. I went down to Chili's and had a good, hot, fast meal and in an unpretentious environment. Oh for a hello and a how are you...
Glad I found this place, been to twice now???? Great Beer selection and very knowledgeable staff on them. Food is great too making it Great all round. I look forward to my next trip to Edmonton in June
Had a layover so stopped in for some food and a pint or two...decided on the Belgian waffles and added the chantilly cream and seasonal fruit. I thought it was quite a lot of food but finished and overall thought it was really good.
The range of eating and drinking choices at EIA keeps getting better and better with new merchants opening. One of the long standing spots is Belgian Beer Café near gate 64. I have eaten here several times and enjoyed their impressive selection of beer and distinctive menu. Who else has the German / Dutch fav stumpot (sausage, mashed potato and thick gravey) along with chicken and waffle ( 2 options). This recent visit also featured an exceptional server who knew the menu well, the beer selection and provided very strong customer service. Obviously a strong customer focused culture. Will return and continue to recommend.
