Blue Iguana - LeClaire

My husband travels for work, which gives us the chance to enjoy excellent Mexican cuisine from various states. However, none of those places come even close to the quality of the Blue Iguana! The atmosphere, food, drinks, and service were all exceptional. We can't wait to return again and again!

Atmosphere: A- Quasi-touristy quite pleasant. No loud drunks, no young children. Ambiance: A Patios in front and back. Lots of window seating as well. Looks new and/or well kept up. Menu: B Limited choices (although many mexican restaurants have an overabundance of combos options, which is too much, this place could've had one extra menu page. But the choices were good ones, including lengua, which I enjoy. Fresh made chips with both green red salsas, which had decent flavor, but they need to also have a hot salsa, as what they do offer has no heat at all. Service: C- Forgot silverware. Brought entrees with a listed menu item missing. Unnecessary extended wait for the bill. Food: B- Well made, well put together, tender steak, chorizo cooked right, but very bland! I want to like it more, buy your cooks some spices and I'm sure I would. Beverages: B- Standard, which is fine. But margaritas belong in a margarita glass! That is the je ne sais quoi of that cocktail... Overall: B Nice al fresco lunch place. I will return. But will certainly ask if they will make spicy versions of their fare.

Enjoyed the chips and salsa. The guacamole was house made, which is a plus. I had some great tacos, but I was really disappointed in their sangria, tasted like juice and there was no fruit.

Stopped on Wednesday for a late-lunch. Service was good, and the food was great! Complimentary hot chips and two kinds of salsa Spicy I thought it was really just mild and Verde really good . I had three different kinds of Mexican tacos Asada Grilled steak , Lengua Beef tongue , Carnitas Pork , and all were delicioso! Added guacamole for a few bucks extra, it was pretty chunky, but good. Cool ambiance as well!

The food and drinks were excellent, and the atmosphere was pleasant. One suggestion I have is to add a few more options to the menu. Otherwise, everything was fantastic. I will definitely return!
