Squirrel Tree - Leavenworth

I really enjoyed my stay outside Leavenworth. The diner offers delicious food and the service is friendly and attentive. The hotel itself is quite basic – nothing extravagant. After spending a day hiking the Enchantments, we were looking for accommodations that were clean, quiet, and reasonably priced, and it exceeded our expectations. Thank you!

We decided on our food, both ordering the 12oz Ribeye for $35. For appetizers, we selected mozzarella sticks and wings. About ten minutes later, our steaks arrived. I informed the server who delivered our food that we had ordered appetizers and she assured us, “yes, they’re coming right behind me.” Four minutes later, Jess returned with our appetizers. I mentioned that we expected to receive our appetizers first, not nearly five minutes after our steaks. She replied that it was too much for her to remember and suggested that in the future, we should order our appetizers and then wait to order our entrees until we received the apps. I’m sorry, but every point-of-sale system has a "hold" button. If remembering to sequence our meals was too complex, she could have simply told us to wait before ordering our entrees. We had clearly indicated that we wanted to start with our appetizers before the steaks. After that exchange, we quietly finished our entrees and boxed up our appetizers. Jess didn’t offer us another round of drinks and quickly dropped the bill instead. We added one more drink before settling up. Overall, the service was disappointing. However, the kitchen did an excellent job—the food was delicious and the steaks were cooked to a perfect medium-rare. Perhaps Jess could benefit from some additional training?

Overall, it's a fantastic spot! The staff were warm and accommodating, and the outdoor area featuring a fire pit and live music created a lovely atmosphere (the local folk group, the Chumlilies, was delightful). The food was quite tasty too. The rooms have been beautifully updated, providing ample space for clothes and toiletries. There are a few minor improvements that could enhance the experience—like the bathroom fan being quite loud upstairs, the plush bath mat being a bit too large, and the towel rack's placement feeling awkward. However, those are just small details, and you really get great value for your money! While it's a 10-15 minute drive to Leavenworth (if that's your destination), the journey is scenic and enjoyable. I highly recommend this charming venue!

The food here is really a cut above most restaurants. It has a delightful atmosphere during the day and the owner went above and beyond to correct an error. So glad we stopped!

So this place is awesome. A diamond in the making. Anything they make is great, service is down home! The shakes are pretty speedy and not excellent but the food is spot on! Good selection for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Full bar option with room for creativity! You won't be sorry you tried it!
