Service was good, although the waitress saw something depressed, quality is ok, all in all, not too bad. Nothing impressive and the whole place is definitely made... for tourists you may not see coming for decades anymore.
We should have read the reviews before we sit in this restaurant. But Mont Saint Michel does not offer many restaurants. I must be honest and say the oysters were fresh and French onions were delicious. We also tried the fish and chips to break the traditional steak and pommes and it was delicious. However, the service is very slow and they do not seem to like to serve, not speaking French and Americans. Our waiter ignored us and served other tables that came after us. About 5/6 table until I called him for a menu. All the others got a menu, but we did. I also wonder if it had something more to do with our sexual orientation. Anyway, def no place I would recommend.
The view is very nice, but the service was impressively slow and abrasive. To describe food as a mediocrity would be generous. You know, and clearly don't care, but also not the customers, if any precaution check is consistently terrible. It would be polite if they at least corrected the bill when they served the wrong dish, but paid for the original.
I wish I had read the reviews before. I rarely advise people to avoid a restaurant, but this is one of those times. Do a favor and don't come here!! We had just finished visiting the abbey and it was a bit late for lunch (13:30). It was busy everywhere and we chose this place as the menu looked good. We were on the side of the village outside the door. When we came in, we welcomed a jolly waitress. Unfortunately, she was only busy with seat owners and laid the table. We sat on the terrace, waited and waited and waited. Still no one has taken over our mission. I heard people went to the waiter to say they had waited for 25 minutes, and they had not even given the menu. Others were also fed and went to the station to help themselves to cutlery. The people who sat on the next table at some point after us got the waiter's attention and placed their orders. I tried and he went right past me. Our neighbours must have seen it and shouted to him that we had waited longer. His answer was that he had to get himself to the pace as the bar could not be finished. At this point we should have risen and gone. A few minutes later he took our orders. The drinks quickly got no problems at the bar. The people at the next table had oysters, but their empty bowls were not washed away when our food arrived. We had fish and seafood, so all the flies that were attracted to the oyster shells were also interested in our lunch. I've spent all the time trying to kick them off!! The salmon my partner ordered was dry too long under the hot lamp and the shells on my seafood spaghetti were cold. The mix salad was okay, but it's not exactly complicated, is it? We didn't eat coffee. This was the only restaurant where the waiting staff didn't ask how the food was, which meant that they didn't care and/or that they knew that the food was not good and so no point to ask. The whole place was chaotic. As far as I could see, only one waiter on the whole terrace of 25 or so tables. Waiting staff was busy, but they didn't seem to have a system. E50 for a bad meal. I'm still in.
My friend and I waited outside the terrace (as requested by a sign) to be seated. Nobody came to check on us so after 15 minutes (lunch time) we walked in and asked for a table. After that nobody came to give us menus so...we asked. None of the waiters seemed to be in charge of taking orders where we were seated so we waited another 10 minutes before having the menu. When we were ready to order, we waved at the waiter working on the terrace but apparently he was not allowed to take orders so we waited another while. When finally another waiter came along she told us exactly the same thing, that she was not allowed to take orders. When we protested she just shrugged. So we just left. Terrible. Really terrible.
