The Logis hotel network is known for its housekeeping. We were on a Monday evening when meals are prepared by the manager. Patrick prepared a wonderful dinner based on local products and wine just great.
We were looking for dinner on Monday evening at the end of May and almost everything in Le Lude was closed. This restaurant offers a unique, no choice 20Euro menu. With essentially no option we gave it a try and it was 't bad at all....Salad Paysanne, followed by Salmon over rice and ice cream dessert. It was delicious and beautifully presented. Dinner for 3 adults with wine and mineral water came to $106. Very good overall.
Attractive restaurant within a small hotel, it was almost full on a Friday lunchtime. The one waiter (proprietor?) was kept extremely busy. The lunchtime formule at €9.50, €12 or €15 depending on the number of courses is very good value. The cabillaud, fish of the day, translates as "cod" but was a far tastier version than the cod which we normally find in England. It was also beautifully presented. The choucroute is a speciality, being a regional dish of Alsace. €16 bought a lunch which would feed someone for a full day with two different Alsacian sausages, a pork knuckle, boiled potatoes and a mountain of sauerkraut. The house red at €2.20 was perfectly drinkable although they do also have a reasonably extensive wine list. Despite how busy it was, service was quick and with a smile.
I took some French friends to lunch here and was pleasantly surprised. The menu looks like a Howard Johnson's but everything we ordered was quite good. Great place to take children (we had a 2 year old with us) and excellent local wines. Not worth a detour but you can do far worse.
