We had the tagliatelle mushroom and it tasted bland and the sauce felt store bought, also the pasta was over cooked. We also had the grilled lobster which came with sweet potatoes and a fajita mix super weird combo which didn't go together. Again the lobster even though fresh had zero seasoning not even butter. We also ordered the beets salad which was underwhelming also the cheese was overpowering. The setting is gorgeous but the DJ they had Friday night didn't match the vibe of the place played 90's disco/ electronic. For sunset drink this spot is amazing
LOVED the service here. This place is amazing, stayed here during honeymoon and made it a frequent spot. Food was good, great options but the pride is the drinks, service and ambiance/atmosphere. Honestly a little pricey on food for what you get, but again my review for 5 stars isn't for the food here.
Mandarina is the onsite restaurant at Casa las Tortugas. Every morning, we were treated to a phenomenal breakfast that was included with our hotel stay. Breakfast included coffee, fresh juice of the day, toast, fruit, yogurt and granola and a choice of breakfast entree. I often went with the chilaquiles with red sauce. It was a huge serving that I was never able to finish and it kept me satiated until the afternoon! All of the servers were sweet but we especially liked Ari; we bonded with him after finding out he spent some of his childhood in a town right near where I grew up! The world is small, y'all. We ordered drinks from Mandarina nearly every day on the beach or to cap off our evenings. They had a nice selection of cocktails and wines by the glass, plus Mexican domestics and a local craft beer as well. They also had an extensive list of fresh wellness shots, juices, smoothies and tea. I opted for their good night tea on two of our evenings and it was lovely! We also ended up having lunch from Mandarina twice during our stay once at the restaurant tables and once right on the beach. Both times I ordered the lobster brioche, which was just as bomb as it sounds. My husband also tried the chickpea crusted fish, served over potato salad, and I thought that was really great as well. Also, it isn't on the menu, but we learned that the kitchen will happily whip up some guacamole, which was much appreciated! Overall, Mandarina is a great onsite restaurant that's a little pricier than other local options, but totally worth it in terms of fresh, delicious food/drinks and convenience!
