The food was delicious, the wine was top-notch, and the service was excellent. The company was friendly and full of soccer tips. Thank you Gavin and CJ for a great evening. The owner Nic did a fantastic job, especially with Caleb. I highly recommend this place to everyone. And let's not forget about the amazing wine. It was superb!
Good food, had the spaghetti bolognese and yummy dessert for a late dinner Traveling from the U.S.
For 3 hungry adults we found this place very expensive. Shared plates, so you order a few and then a few more and don't realize how much you're spending. Food was tasty however my biggest gripe would have to be the prawns - who cuts a prawn in half and then grills each half so end result is tough and you have to literally scrape every piece of meat out shell to get anything? To me this is sacrilege. I suspect this place does it so they only have to use minimum prawns for a serving because slicing them in half makes it look like more on a plate. This plate was a rip off. Dips and calamari good but I still think over-priced. Was told it only opened at 6pm however when we got there on the dot there were already a few tables seated with drinks. We ordered 1 litre of house wine, waitress brought it in a 500ml jug and we eventually had to question why only 500ml? She then told us that the other 500ml would come once we finished the first 500ml. She should have said this right up without us having to ask. Would have preferred a few dishes to come together - so three of us could choose and feel like the food was plentiful rather than one small plate in front of us when we were hungry and had to divide it up equally - pretty uncomfortable. Potato dish was not tasty - potatoes were glassy.
Been here twice and fantastic both times. Great food, service and atmosphere. Have tried nearly all the dishes and overall all delicious. Highly recommend
Lawson is not known locally as a place to go for a great meal beyond the regular suburban takeaway/eat in and the like. Mesa Barrio certainly steps up the standard with great tasting tapas style food. It's fresh, tasty and quickly prepared with a good matching drinks menu. It's a trick to find being behind the new shopping development on the south side of the highway but worth persisting to locate.
