Ben Roberts Cafe & Gallery - LAWSON

Had breakfast here on Sunday . Coffee was great, food very enjoyable, service was with a smile. Couldn't fault the cafe. We found the cafe by accident it's not on the main road but tucked away in side street.

Lovely heritage building that has been pleasantly renovated to include glass surrounds on the verandah and rear deck - just disappointing that narrow verandah only allows couples to sit and wet weather did not allow us to sit on rear deck. From memory, menu was homemade soups, sausage rolls, meat pies, chicken curry plus coffee and cakes. No fried foods or chips. We opted for a large sausage roll and salad which were average and no frills. I expected more gourmet style. Our group was excited about the homemade cheesecake and apple pie, only to be told there wasn't any which was disappointing. We opted instead for banana cake and the Love Peruvian Cake which were both nice. A couple nearby had the scones and cream which looked lovely. Service was friendly and attentive but a bit too fast - maybe because there were only two tables to wait on! Would we go there again? Maybe for coffee and cake but not worth the Sunday drive for the limited lunch menu. ...

It is worth going to this restaurant just to absorb the feeling of the lovely old building. One of the oldest houses in Lawson and it has been carefully restored. The front terrace with it's glass screen is a great place for coffee on a sunny day. You can also sit inside or on the glassed-in verandah. Ramp access is through the front door.The coffee and hot chocolate are great and a range of light meals is available as well.

We went to this cafe for breakfast as most other cafes in Lawson were still closed. Very uninspired and limited menu. We both had the big breakfast. Low quality ingredients, looked and tasted as though eggs were cooked in the microwave. Coffee was ok.

Coffee was too foamy. There's better to be had around the corner. Gallery aspect makes it not kid friendly.
