Mekong Vietnamese Restaurant

First visit to this restaurant. Delicious food, well priced and very good service. Loved the decore too, felt like I was back in Vietnam. Looking forward to going again.

When we entered this place thought that it was very unique. Very Vietnamese style. Fantastic meal at a great price. We tried the tasting plate and it was very nice. There was only one person serving and she managed to look after all diners easily. she was a delight, extremely pleasant and always smiling. Went out of her way to assist. Would recommend this to anyone.

Friendly staff. Good value food. Had the banquet which is great value. Loved everything except the long curry which was extremely salty. However, it was the last savoury course and I was pretty full by then anyway

After procrastinating for days about where to dine in Launceston (now live on the east coast ... it was a difficult decision with so many choices... even on a Monday night... we wanted to walk from our hotel so this limited our choices and I had dined here before many times in the past but more than 5 years ago. My husband had never had Vietnamese before so this was our choice... we ordered the more expensive banquet for two... the wine list was very unappealing.. cheap and nasty white wines... we decided on a Tasmanian Pinot Derwent estate 2017!!! The wine was amazingly delicious!!! Not exactly suited to Vietnamese food but it was the highlight of our experience. I’m sorry to say but the food was so salty it was inedible to me... my husband ate his and mine and he was really hungry and he’s a big eater! But it was not palatable or in any way Vietnamese in flavour.. the taste of salt was overpowering in every course (and just because my husband ate it doesn’t mean he didn’t notice it When I mentioned this to our lovely waitress and asked if they use MSG, she asked if we were from Launceston? I said no we used to live there but now on the east coast... she said that Launceston people complain that their food is tasteless so they add extra salt to their food!!!! She said next time we come to let them know so they don’t add extra salt (ie; MSG??? This was the most bizarre response.... We would never go there again... this was an expensive dining experience... that was inedible on so many levels... there are so many other choices.. do not recommend!

Lovely place conveniently located in a cute square with efficient and friendly staff and good food. Despite a few bad reviews, I came here because they had a few items with free range chicken and having just come off a health diet, I thought a few items on their menu sounded fairly healthy. I was pleasantly surprised. I had chicken curry which came bubbling in a pot and was gorgeous. Bit on the sweet side though if that's not your thing. My companion had the meatballs in special sauce that he thoroughly enjoyed. Main dishes seem to be on average between $20 and $30 excluding rice. Got 20% off with entertainment book. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with Vietnamese pieces. Overall, it was a great experience!
