I had moderate expectations of Kwan Ho going by some of the other reviews. However, I think the restaurant is currently a little underrated. Our party of five agreed that this is a pretty impressive Chinese restaurant. It ticks a lot of boxes. The set out and decor is pleasant. Service from a number of servers tonight was quick, attentive and polite as well. <br/ <br/ We had a good range of dishes for entree and main. Every one of them had their virtues and there wasn’t one we felt was lacking. It was a good sample. Oysters, scallops, spring rolls, beef, pork belly, crispy skin chicken, fish, seasonal vegetables and fried rice were among the dishes we tried. They were all mighty tasty. The ingredients were fresh and good quality. The cooking and presentation were very good. The wine list was good. Overall cost was modest we thought for the quality of the meal.<br/ <br/ All in all a good experience. Kwan Ho is recommended.
Absolutely loved Kwan Ho. The service was impeccable, the views were amazing and couldn’t fault the food. We had the classic banquet, which was reasonably priced and included a lot of dishes.
Booked a table of eight last minute for a birthday meal.basically because most restaurants in Hobart were closed on Monday January 1st go figure), turned out to be a pretty good 5th or 6th choice unfortunately we didn’t get a great table but understandable under the circumstances)the main dining area has great views over the Derwent so ask when booking, after settling down with some nice beverages from an extensive drinks menu our group opted for the Classic Banquet $60.00 per person )From start to finish all plates were spot on and thoroughly enjoyed, the service was unobtrusive and efficient and the timing just so, <br/ Will definitely return
As I did a walk in without a reservation, I was unable to get a seat by the windows which overlooked the tasman sea. Would recommend making a booking in advance if you’d like that. Food wise they were pretty decent, nothing exceptional that stood out.
