Cavalryman Steakhouse - Laramie

We enjoyed splitting a steak, sweet potato , salad and bread pudding. Everything was done perfectly and the bread pudding was superb! Fun to have good food served well in the country! Yum.

However, during drink selection, the waitress informed us to choose a second option because several items on the drink menu were out of stock. She was right; this turned out to be just the beginning. We specifically came for Rocky Mountain oysters, only to find out they were unavailable, which was a huge disappointment. When it came time to select our meals, the waitress frequently had to check on whether the items we wanted were available. We requested A-1 sauce, and she brought out the last bottle, which contained barely an inch of sauce—this is a steakhouse, after all! I ordered my ribeye medium well, but it arrived half raw and the other half medium rare. When I asked for it to be taken back, I felt like if it had to go back to the kitchen, I must be in the wrong place. I ended up not eating another bite. It's disheartening, especially since I had high expectations, considering we’re in cattle country. My advice to the chef would be to watch a few YouTube videos or spend time back at the ranch to improve things.

The ribeye was cooked med rare as I wanted, but way over salted. The mashed potatoes were over salted also. it was like they salted it and forgot, then salted it again. At least the food was warm as it should be, but we were to only other table in the place with people at it. I think they pre grill the steaks? but mine was as I like it except over salted) Having your food served 10 min after you order it does not lend an idea it was cooked when ordered. The starter salad was obviously pre made and I received the one that was the oldest with bits of spoiled lettuce. which I picked through. Service was OK, but not at a quality steakhouse level. Soda bread is good, bread pudding is good. Decent ambiance.

In all honesty, this was one of the worst meals our family had had in a long time. The Rocky Mountain oysters lackied seasoning and was incredibly dry, the salmon was similar to jerky and the steak and mashed potatoes were so over seasoned they were pretty much inedible. Very unfortunate as this has been a favorite since childhood

Wish there was a negative star for this place. This was the worst meal we have had in decades. They were out of almost everything on the menu! No duck, no prime rib, no chicken, every whiskey and beer our table asked for they were out of. It took forever for anything to arrive at the table. We were brought things that we didn't order. My friend ordered the country fried steak, and the gravy looked like where someone threw up after a night of drinking. The piece of meat was sitting in a pool of grease and the top had grease running off it. We finally figured out what ten gravy was, pan grease with nothing more than a hand full of flour thrown in it. Others meals were just as disgusting. On top of that the server was a total space cadet and couldn't even remember from one person to the next what they ordered. Don't waste your time or your hard earned money on this place.
