Visited Laon for a weekend stay with my wife. Saw this old town restaurant on TripAdvisor and was not disappointed. Great food, service and an excellent selection of belgian beers. Ordered a couple of burgers, best i've had. Given a complimentary drink on paying the bill (which was fantastic value). Highly recommended, worth the walk up the 300+ stairs to the old town lol
Nous avions fait cette brasserie il y a 6 ans, l'accueil y est toujours sympa,la cuisine du coin toujours aussi bonne, recommande, excentré des restaurants attrape touristes
Having been wandering around the streets of this spectacular old town we were in need of somewhere to eat and drink out of the strong sun; 'Le Trappist ' was that place. Right from the start , as soon as we sat down and looked at all the signs and advertisements on the walls, we knew that we were in a place heavily influenced by its Belgian leanings. After a jug of cold water and a couple of Jupiter beers we studied the extensive table mat menus and made our choices my wife went for the 'Escalope de poulet a la crème ' and I chose the, as it turned out , appropriately named 'Burger gourmand '. Having eventually made our way through the suitably generous portions, we finished the meal with a couple of 'Café petit ' black coffees. Altogether a very satisfactory lunch experience, topped of with a complimentary cold shot of pear and cognac liqueur straight from the freezer excellent.
Traditional restaurant with homemade cuisine. I ordered the pie of the trapper cut to the knife, just a delight and full of flavors with dried tomato with homemade fries.
