It seemed like they were more focused on takeout orders than serving the customers in the restaurant. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience.
We have attempted to order takeout from this restaurant three times and have been disappointed each time. The first time, we waited for over 2 hours so we decided to cancel the order. The second and third times, we had to wait at least an hour and a half even though the online estimate was only 30 minutes. The service was very poor and we will not be ordering from here again.
A few years ago, I had an amazing dining experience at the Far Pavillion. However, today I decided to order a takeaway online and have it delivered, and unfortunately, it was not as good. This was probably the worst Indian takeaway I have had in a long time. Perhaps ordering takeaway is not the Far Pavillion's strong suit.
First and last visit, was early meal and restaurant was fairly busy. Waited rather a while for our meals. When food arrived it looked good apart from naan which were worst I've seen and tasted we ordered 2 but didn't eat them they were that bad. My dish was so heavy with coconut oil it left my mouth with horrid fatty residue. The decor is rather shabby and needs a good deep clean. I must say staff are very pleasant. But they need to sort out their act to survive. I hope they improve.
Far Pavilion, 25 Bypass Road, Bolton-Le-Sands, Carnforth LA5 8JA Tel: 01524 823316 Date of visit: 21st October 2023. I have reviewed this excellent establishment many times over the years, the last time being in January of this year. Consistently good, with friendly attentive staff, who have been with them for many years in most cases. A family run business now run by the original owner’s son, Sam. Situated on the A6 near Carnforth on the edge of the lake district well worth the effort to visit and look around. Just a few miles from Lake Windermere. Tonight, I choose from their extensive and varied menu Pop’s with the excellent pickle tray. As on this occasion I took a friend we decided on the mixed Starter for two which consisted of, Chicken Pakoras, Shish Kebabs, Onion Baji, chicken Tika, with a selection of dips the mint dip being particularly worthy of a mention. Next round was for me, Chicken Ceylon, Now I have to say that this dish was excellent, big soft succulent chunks of chicken breast in a well spiced three chilli, coconut sauce. Trust me one of the best I’ve had for a very long time. My friend went for the Butter chicken on my advice but unfortunately, it was a little on the sweet side for her. Soft fragrant fluffy Pilau rice and an excellent peshwari Naan completed the order. As I was not driving, I allowed myself the indulgence of two pints of Cobra to help it all down. This place will continue to be up there in my top five restaurants. Just a shame it is not nearer to where I live! Parking no problem £65.00 for the quality is more than acceptable. 9.5 /10
