Thai Orchid - Lambeth

I went with a group of friends for a birthday celebration as the planned restaurant had a mix-up with our reservation. This restaurant was really only chosen because they were the only ones in Clapham that could accommodate our group. The cocktails were awful, the food took a long time to come out and was not as described on the menu, the service was terrible, and every time we ordered something the waiter had to call the manager. A friend canceled her meal because of how long it was taking to come out and they still brought it and told her that even though she wasn't going to eat it, she still had to pay. Needless to say, after some back and forth, she did not pay for the food. We were told that the manager does not pay for the service due to the poor service received but added that they sometimes mistakenly charge others so be careful if you decide not to fall for this restaurant scam as they will overcharge you. Needless to say, we will never return and now I understand why it's always empty!

Visited last night looks very inviting from the outside but the interior lacks atmosphere. The food is generally very average.We had spring rolls and chicken dumplings to start the dumplings by far being the best dish of the evening, definitely recommended.For main we had a spiced char grilled chicken dish and duck in plum sauce the chicken definitely wasn't char grilled, but the sauce it was served in was nice. The duck dish was average. The side rice dishes we ordered were good.All in all perfectly edible but very average food. Decent service.

We went to the Thai Orchid on Saturday and it was great!Thai Orchid is nothing pretentious or too stylish. But the decor is nice and new; the ambience is warm, good both for a romantic evening and a dinner with friends. Cocktails are great and the menu has something to offer for every taste. Although we didn't taste, the fish menu seems very interesting. And the Stuff is nice and friendly, all smiley : And the whole for a very standard price. I'll definitely go again

In a nice and luxurious Thai restaurant for dinner. The atmosphere is great. I have been there three times with my friends, colleagues and associates. The last time I went with my partner and she was very surprised that the staff charged us £2.50 for a glass of tap water (not mineral water, could be a mistake). But the service and food are always nice, close to the parking lot, bus stop and never too crowded.

This was a disappointing experience. My ex-companion and a dear friend of ours wanted some Asian food. Little did they know they would get much more than they bargained for. It was late, quite late, but they could have at least told us the kitchen was closed. Instead, they agreed to serve us only if we managed to eat in 50 minutes... 47 minutes of a fusion kitchen with indistinct flavors or origins, even if it claimed to be 'Thai,' hence the name of the restaurant, they started moving the tables and folding chairs. This was a dingy restaurant where the aromas of fried calamari and body odor mingled and lingered until the early hours of the morning. Poor food, bad service. No value for money.
