Nuttshell Next Door Cafe - Lakefield

Fantastic coffees and sandwiches. Nice friendly service. A great place to meet up. Whenever we have been there, we noticed that a lot of regulars hang out there.

Important to note, The Nutty Bean Café is the new name for the "Nuttshell Next Door Café" so the reviews from the other need to be cross referenced here. Maybe there is new ownership with the new name which is why we didn't find it to be as great as the earlier reviews? Not sure ... anyway, we stopped here on Sunday morning to meet up with some other folks. We were surprised to find people lined up outside waiting for their 10 a.m opening time (they ended up unlocking at 10:05 which made one person at the start of the line a wee bit cross). There is no table service, you go to a take-out type window, then if you are ordering something that needs to be cooked, you take a number to your table and they deliver it to you. Otherwise, you take your own food to a table. We thought we would get a table once we had placed our order, only to find that other people in line had split up to "reserve a table" so we had nowhere to sit (even though most of the reserved table folks had not placed orders yet). Fortunately, there is a bench a few doors down in front of the bank so we got our coffee in to-go cups. The muffin was average, a bit dry for my husband's taste (maybe not made that morning, as there was no baking aroma).? The coffee was very strong, almost fuzzy feeling (glad we didn't go for the bold LOL). They have assorted boxed teas to choose from. They had a few flavours of muffins, some cookies and scones ready to serve. Some people were ordering breakfast foods (given the absence of a table we passed on a substantial breakfast). The area to put cream and/or sugar in your coffee is in the line area between the take out counter and the door that people were trying to hold open while they balanced their orders or waited to place an order. Not good if you are trying to hold anything or have accessibility needs (probably fine when they are not lined up). Anyway, we likely won't stop here again, but there are many other places in the area on our road trip coffee/snack list. P.S, a bit pricy for the quality and there were no gluten free options (not sure if this is the case every day, the fellow at the counter seemed confused so we didn't ask more questions)

Excellent meal with that homemade taste. You might wait a little bit but it is sooo worth it. It is worth the drive to Lakefield for this little taste of heaven.

Small menu but the food and drink is first rate. Eggs, sandwiches, soups and desserts are all delicious! Great coffee and tea as well

Best chicken club ever! Awesome soups cozy lil bistro. A regular stop on weekends at the cottage. Highly recommend to all.
