The discolored mold on the illuminated sign outside should have been a red flag, but we ignored it and went inside anyway. After catching up over drinks, my friend ordered bottomless chips and salsa followed by a burger and fries, while I opted for cheese fries and Cajun chicken pasta. Unfortunately, neither of us enjoyed our meals, and we left with half of our food still on the plate. Thankfully, the good company and enjoyable conversation made up for the lackluster meal because, aside from that, there was little worth mentioning. The food was disappointing, the service felt indifferent, the prices were high while the drinks were watered down, and the atmosphere lacked any charm. The use of tabletop gadgets really took away from the customer experience. It's clear that Chili's has completely lost its way, and at this point, it feels like there's no way to turn things around.
I really enjoy the egg rolls, and the food is consistently good. The atmosphere is vibrant, yet you can still have a nice conversation. The staff always greets you with a smile and a friendly introduction. The Southwestern egg rolls are definitely one of my favorites.
We shared the Triple Dipper appetizer, which allows you to choose three different appetizers from a variety of options. We selected: 1) Burger Bites, which had plenty of bacon and a tasty roll, but the burgers were slightly overcooked, and the bun-to-beef ratio felt a bit off. Perhaps the regular-sized burgers would be a better choice than the small bites. 2) Regular chicken strips (spicy and crispy options were available), which turned out to be dry and fairly bland. Thankfully, we opted for BBQ sauce to enhance the flavor and add some moisture. 3) Southwestern Eggrolls, spicy chicken wraps filled with black beans, corn, and cheese. These had a nice kick, true to Chili's reputation, and were definitely the highlight of the three appetizers. I paired them with salsa for dipping, which complemented the eggrolls beautifully. I'd happily order these again as a full appetizer. For dessert, we indulged in the molten chocolate cake, featuring a scoop of vanilla ice cream atop a warm, gooey chocolate cake drizzled with hot fudge and caramel sauces. OMG! For chocolate lovers, it's simply one of the best desserts around—seriously! I was tempted to lick the plate clean and even considered ordering another one (perhaps next time!). Chili's also offers an extensive menu, and their 3 for $10.99 deal (which includes a soft drink, appetizer, and entrée) is fantastic. Regarding COVID accommodations: When we arrived, the restaurant wasn't too busy, so social distancing wasn't an issue. However, it does fill up, so those uncomfortable with indoor dining should definitely consider take-out. While the staff wore masks, I noticed they didn't always keep them properly in place. Overall, Chili's provided a pleasant experience with decent food and amazing dessert. Come for the spicy dishes, and stay for the delightful desserts!
