Walter's Tavern - Lake Dallas

Tried the black ribeye, but it was so full of Gristle it was mostly inedible. It is not really black, but served with some sauce to give it some taste. For the price I expected a high quality steak.

So disappointed.Arrived at 5:41 pm. We expected a Saturday night crowd on Valentine's day weekend, but there were two unreserved high-top tables, so we sat at one and placed our order. At 6:55 pm we were informed that they were out of the blackened filet mignon beef stroganoff we had put in an order for over an hour ago.We settled our bill for: a coke, an iced tea, and mozzarella sticks and left. $17 to wait for over and hour and not be served. No offer to comp our drinks or appetizer. Epic customer service fail.

A neighbor told us about this gem, and we are SO glad we tried it. Our first time was for a date night. I had the French dip and my then boyfriend had the club sandwich. The food was fresh and absolutely delicious! Their portions are hearty and we had leftovers. The au jus was very yummy to dip my sandwich in!Fast forward and we liked Walter's Tavern so much we had our wedding reception/dinner there! The stuffed catfish is out of this world! Everyone really enjoyed the versatility of the menu and being able to select a meal of their choice. It always comes out fresh and you can tell they make everything in house with pride!Our most recent visit we tried the fried artichokes! WOW! Those will now be a must every visit! Walter's Tavern is on our regular rotation and a place we always take people visiting!

The food was fantastic! The staff was very friendly and helpful! This place is a hidden Gem as far as the food is concerned. It has that Tavern feel as far as atmosphere goes. We will definitely be going back to try more items on the menu!
