Fire Oak - Lake Charles

I LOVE all of the food I have tried here: Caprese, hamburger with fries, and filet mignon with asparagus. I actually thought the burger was better than everything which is nearly impossible, since everything was so great! I can't wait to go back tonight.

It is more of a brunch place for me, the dinner menu isn’t as good as brunch in my opinion. Having said that the tomahawk steak was delicious and cooked perfectly and served with an amazing butter sauce. My Husband and I tried this place while we were in town. It's an elegant little spot in a great part of town. Upon arrival, we seated ourselves and waited 8 min before the bartender came to our table with water and informed us he was short staffed. I informed him we were patient and understood. All the tables were filled except for 2 and a few seats at the bar were open. It's a small place. After a few minutes we realized there were no waiters or waitresses to serve which was fine. Bartender came back to the table to bring our drinks and to take our order by memory I may add. After taking our order he headed over to a table to check on someone while another family came in and was seated. Another gentleman was helping drop food and take orders. Needless to say the table after us was served several dishes before we even received our first plate, which came out 30 min after we ordered. I get they had no staff and he was busy rocking out drinks etc. After he gave us drinks and took our order we never saw him again. No refills, No do you need anything, never touched our table. Which would have been fine if we didn't watch him touch every table at least once the whole hour we were there. My husband and I shared an appetizer, a salad, and a fish dish. 3 plates and it took an hour. Which was fine because the food was delicious. After the meal, I had to Flag down the other gentleman to get our ticket. Bartender guy brought it over and apologize for not coming to our table the entire hour we were there. Other guy didn't check on us as well, but both of them touched every other table occupied in this restaurant. I tipped well even though we got no service and no updates on our food with out having to ask. I gave this place 4 Stars because it's quant and the food was absolutely fabulous. The service wasn't terrible just non Existent. I wouldn't have been so perturbed about the short staff if we didn't witness him check every other table in the place other than ours. Would we eat here again?? Not sure. But the food was really good.

Definitely a gem in Lake Charles Louisiana. They're in not to many places to go to that have good food and good drinks. However, the prices are pretty pricey so make sure when you come here you are ready to spend. I have a steak it was perfectly cooked with the right amount of salt and pepper in juiciness. The asparagus was cooked perfectly. I also had the baked oysters they were so good. On top of that the bartender was shaken up some amazing cocktails. Definitely a great place for date night or any special occasion or just to go out to have a nice dinner. I will definitely be back here for some more. And don't forget the s'more's campfire brownie! It is so amazingly good. This place is definitely five star material. Lake Charles needs more places like this. I will be back soon!.

This restaurant is perfect for a casual dinner. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and the drinks are mostly good. However, we did have a few disappointing drinks when they tried to get creative with staples like a gin and tonic. The dining room is cozy and dimly lit, and it's usually not very crowded, which is great if you're looking for a more relaxed atmosphere. Overall, it's a nice place, but nothing too extraordinary to rave about.
