The service and quality of food remains excellent but it is much smaller and, if you don't know the area, will be difficult to find. The lunch menu is very good value at E9.50 for 3 courses, wine and coffee and the service remains friendly and attentive. Well worth looking for. New telephone number of +351 282359129 This different to the ones shown in local publications. Change was due to poor reception from their previous phone provider.
I 'm sorry to be writing this review as we 've very much enjoyed A Tascquinha, both in Carvoeiro and Lagoa, in the past. However, last night was disappointing. We had reserved a specific table as we had a 13 month old baby with us, and wanted to minimise any potential disruption to other diners. When we arrived our corner table wasn 't set. No big deal on its own and the waiter set the table we 'd requested. We 'd reserved the table with him two days before. He was on his own, although the place wasn 't busy. He forgot a couple of things and we had to remind him of the drinks we 'd ordered but, again, no major drama. It then became apparent there is a new menu, although the old one is still online and stuck up outside. My daughter is vegetarian and there is not a single main course she could eat. Ended up ordering a bigged up starter. Four meals OK but my wife 's prawn curry was poor. Tiny portion, overly salty but otherwise bland. She left it. When we were asked if everything was OK I told the waiter, in Portuguese, about my wife 's dinner. He said he 'd tell the chef. I believe he did, but neither he nor the chef said anything further. It might have been nice for the problem to have been reflected in the bill. It wasn 't, and I wasn 't going to insist for the sum involved. Add to this the confusing (and from the vegetarian viewpoint, disappointing) menu situation, and the fact that music is still being advertised outside (one reason we booked for Thursday) but there wasn 't any, made for a pretty disappointing night. I know Marco works very hard, and will be sorting out the Lagoa operation too, but there 's a risk I think that Carvoeiro might lose custom, if this is an example of the service to be expected. I hope I 'm wrong and this was just a one off. On another note, I hope the po faced Calvinist, one of a party of three, who took instant manufactured umbrage when I asked the waiter to give us the table we 'd reserved, is reading this. We were perfectly polite, and we asked out of consideration for other diners, her included, as described above. She spent the whole evening banging on about it to her companions I 'm not deaf. She was wise to take the advice of her male companion to let it lie . I almost didn 't but on principle I don 't explain myself to professional disapproves. She certainly would have received a character reference from me that she wouldn 't have liked. Finally, for all her concern for the young waiter, nobody in her party could muster a single word of Portuguese to say to him. Enjoy the rest of your stay. I 'm sure you 'll have many more opportunities to be offended. They 're always there if you 're looking for them.
We were staying at Monte Carvoeiro so our visit to A Tasquinha restaurant was but a short walk. Friendly staff. Good menu. Very good food topped off by an excellent live guitarist.
This restaurant was recommended by my friends parents and I was so not disappointed as it's off the tourist trail but yet 7 mins to walk and it's in a small square so it's great for after dinner cocktails aswell. So recommend a visit. Reasonably priced and superb food.
Another great evening at A Tasquinha. Greeted warmly by Marco who remembered us from January, and his lovely wife and chef Carla. Food consistently good here, and incredible value. House wine delicious and very generous. We ate indoors as was a cool evening, was lovely atmosphere and soft music, but there is such a lovely large terrace to eat out on warm evenings, and quiet away from the road. We have been visiting A Tasquinha since they had a little restaurant in Lagoa and it 's always a delight to eat here. Delicious grilled prawns and prawn curry, 'amuse bouche ' a bonus and nice touch as well as the complimentary port at the end of the meal. We 'll be back again soon.
