We arrived for our early reservation at Ruth's, as the restaurant was mostly empty, we had great service, at least 4 different waiters came to either fill water, bring bread or check us out. But sad, when the place filled up our great service fell from a cliff. The food my beet salad was very good. Some friends had ordered another salad that didn't ask for onions, all got the red onions. When the waiter said he just made a nervous laugh, no excuse or offer to repair it. The steaks were served Ruth style on a piping hot plate in sizzling butter. Now it was a good steak, not great. I had ordered the desert and asked for us to wait for about 10 minutes and just give up. When our waiter was finished with us and continued. We caught him on the way out and he just said I forgot. The $175 for two should get us great food and great service sadly not.
The best steak in Lafayette. It'll cost a pretty penny. But for an excellent steak in a fine dining atmosphere you can't beat this classic. I have read some of these negative reviews and they are away from the base. This is a first-class restaurant with excellent steaks. Same with bigger townhouses, the only one we have in Lafayette. A tip: If you have a young one, ask for the menu children meal steak, page, dessert for about $18.
Based on some of the reviews I've seen here and on other pages, I've removed from Ruth's earlier occasions and was ready to be unimpressed. First, let me say it's really 't a 'name ' steakhouse in Lafayette and if you try to find 'steakhouses' on the different sides, everything from outback to grocery stores appears. Ruth 's here exudes a beautifully decorated ambience that presits a relaxed dinner. The waitress was personal and friendly and welcomed us quickly and offered drinks and hot bread. We ordered a few fillets and they were, as advertised, prime and cooked perfectly. The sides were also delicious. We actually did the chefs three course special, salad, entree, side and dessert, price at about $40 per person and split a shraz, for about $140 before tip quite reasonable as usually at Ruth 's or Morton 's it is all ala carte. If I had a problem saying it 'd be if you take away the salads at least replace the knife instead of placing it on the white tablecloth... Do not be surprised that some of your fellow human beings are in jeans or tea shirts; there are a lot of classless coagulations on the loose days... We'll make Ruth back in LFT.
Ole Faithful. Yeap! As good as ever. Thank you, Ruth.
As expected. Great filet and side dishes. Service was great and very attentive but of course you are going to pay. I usually only eat steaks at home because my husband knows just how I like them and it's hard to find a really good steak but if I was looking to splurge I wouldn't hesitate to go to Ruths Chris.
