Unsophisticated but decent family cooking with good sized portions. 13 euros starter main fromage dessert. Only open lunches Monday to Friday and get there early for the menu de jour. Lovely area. Worth a visit!
We come here every autumn (and will return again this May and again in October) as the quality of food is superb. All the dishes are typical of the region, with local produce and 'country ' in style (so be warned you will go away feeling well fed). As it is a 'local ' auberge be sure to get there for noon at lunchtime as it quickly fills with farm workers and other locals. There are a number of set menus at various prices, all great value. The Morbiflette, Truite in sauce jaune are fantastic, as are the salads to start. And beware the giant dish of Dauphinoise potatoes that comes on the side, it is excellent, you will have to finish it all. The restaurant is not easy to find, being set back on a side road between farms (in Grange Ladoye, on the right hand side as you drive from Chateau Chalon to Cirque Ladoye and Picareau). Please check opening times, as I think in Autumn/Winter it is just lunches Tuesday to Sunday. Tables at the rear of the restaurant are quieter and some have a view across the Seille valley. Service is quick, friendly and efficient, but I don 't think they speak any English.
We went to eat here guided by the good opinions and the site did not disappoint us. very good food, friendly staff, fast service and very nice place. No doubt a good place to eat.
Typical village inn as much in the decor as the owner but it is very pleasant. if you like meat is the bites take the tin.
Fantastic welcome, mamy denise at the bar (a little deaf) smiles, a family table and delicious. bebert in the furnace, the smiling fanfan and a raying editor in short of happiness to consume without moderation
