This welcoming restaurant was unpredictable. The food was excellent, and that was a member of our party, the vegetarians were also delighted with their meal. Four of us were enthusiastic about our lunch and the service was friendly and professional. That was a great find.
Charming lunch on the quiet river rope. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, very affordable prices. Excellent frog legs and equally excellent competition friture; go for the mixed plate of the competition friture.
In truth you should eat at L’Escale in the summer, when you can sit on the terrace and admire the view over the river and the fields opposite, even better to arrive by boat. On a chilly November evening the dining room looks clean but a bit tired. However Christian and Catherine’s menu still promotes the village raison d’être, with its main dishes of frog legs and ablettes, and perch freshly caught by Christian in the river below the weir, simple dishes with absolutely fresh produce and beautifully cooked. For those not so fishy orientated there is still Charolais steak, Bresse chicken and volaile. Wines are mostly from the local Mâconais region as one might expect. La Truchère is at the end of the road being on the junction of the river Seille with the Saône there is nowhere to go beyond the village. So it does require a deliberate trip to get there, but even in winter it is still a worthwhile journey for a stroll and decent meal.
This is a simple and inexpensive restaurant overlooking the River Seille in the pretty village of La Truchère. Ten minutes drive from Tournus and an ideal overnight stop if you are on a boating holiday. Try the frogs' legs or freshly caught whitebait for a genuine taste of the region. Otherwise chef's terrine and the tasty chicken dish are fresh and good value. If you are lucky there may be lobster on the menu. Local wines thoughtfully chosen and sensibly priced This is a friendly restaurant with good-natured service and loved by locals as well as summer visitors. Perfect ambience eating outside on a warm summer's evening with friends. Best to book.
Pas un super repas. J'ai mangé des cuisses de grenouilles bien meilleures. Peu copieux. Dommage car le cadre est super
