Gili Cafe - La Tremblade

Lunch was burger for my hubby and Linguine for me followed by banana split. Waitress was efficient, outside table with good ambience at lunchtime. Hubby’s burger was good but my linguine lacked the bisque sauce. Plenty of seafood with mussels which were overcooked. Average outing but fairly priced.

Unbelievable rudeness blaming our 1 year old twins for making a mess and our parenting for not telling them to make a mess. We were holding them so impossible to tidy until we finished. Literally the worst and most rude service I've ever had anywhere in the world.

Whilst on holiday in the area, my family two adults and two children) had dinner here on a Thursday evening in June. We had the restaurant to ourselves at first but then a trickle of locals joined us which is always a good sign. La Tremblade seemed to be very quiet that evening with most restaurants offering shellfish dishes, the local delicacy. We had already patronised one of these establishments and in the absence of a traditional French restaurant, we chose the Gili Cafe. The maitre d ' was very hospitable and welcoming. We were given the 'a la carte ' menu which was a mix of fusion cuisine; a blend of Asian, mainly Thai and European. We had prawn toasts, spring rolls, ceviche and a poke bowl. Main courses included the beef dish which fyi is served cold, gourmet burger, and Pad Thai x 2. Desserts included chocolate mousse, a gourmet chocolate dessert plate, an ice cream and two espresso. Whilst most dishes were just ok, the standout dishes were the spring rolls best ever according to my son) and the chocolate gourmet dessert plate which was excellent patisserie. With a 50cl carafe of Rose and soft drinks, the bill came to €160 service charge not included). I felt the meal was over priced having spent €90 on another family meal on the pier and experiencing a lunchtime 3 course 'plat du jour ' menu in Montendre for €16 in previous days. Lesson learned...when in France on holiday, eat French inspired food for good value. In fairness to the restaurant, the chef seemed to cook the main courses to order and the locals seemed to enjoy their evening so it obviously meets local expectations.

Beautiful reception and service, quality Thai cuisine! service on terrace even for a 31/12! pleasant moment, to recommend!

We took the Indonesian dish that is made that the weekend and the superb discovery of flavors in the mouth, spicy as it is necessary. Very well. an excellent value for money, a simple and authentic welcome, at least one customer in this season.
