Chez Marie - La Rochelle

Located near the market, with very few tables, this is a real find. The owner Marie is quite a character and specialises in a small number of deliciously cooked dishes, including various pate dishes and duck based dishes. I went for half a roast duck cooked confit style (slowly cooked over 3 hours) which was outstanding. Very enjoyable visit and look forward to visiting again next year!

We stumbled across Chez Marie by accident on a Sunday lunchtime – its located at the main market (which is open on a Sunday). The restaurant was very busy but we were served quickly. The owner’s daughter spoke excellent English and she helped us with the menu – the food was absolutely delicious. Worth seeking this out – we recommend it.

Had a Friday night dinner here and it was marvelous, fabulous duck and lovely cheese, washed down with a decent few glasses of wine. Highly recommended.
