Chez Hortense - La Rochelle

Stunned on this bar, (literal) after a few drinks and found a great atmosphere with Kitch fittings and decor and reasonable inexpensive drinks. it is worth looking as alternative to harbour bars.

The best way to describe this bar is bohemian. a beautiful place with a beautiful amount and a series of customers who know how to have a good time. it was a real sound with live music and a fab relaxed mood. G...out

Enjoy the time-lapse, prepare for a space trip in chez hortense. green wall paper with pink flowers, a book regale that comes from harry potter film set, a school table and high bar chairs. we love every piece of decoration here, far from the annoying tourist trap. we only regret that robert the cat at public places is no longer allowed. we miss u robert. we love the place anyway. thank you!

Take a side alley while you walk along the waterline and this magical brasserie will emerge. The ambiance and the setup are as if you've suddenly appeared amidst a time lapse photography. The subtle music, the hand written menu, the home made traditional food, the people who...have discreetly invaded the place which suddenly seems to pulse with their laughter and chatter this is all you need to fall in love with La Rochelle.

Relaxed, great service, fantastic value, they clearly care about the food and their customers. The customers are mostly locals and the handwritten menu is limited but the food was great and the atmosphere was even better. A delight!
