Suffice it to say, I eat it a lot both at home and have eaten it at restaurants in several countries around the world who host immigrant populations from India. Like a previous reviewer noted, the New Taste of India (1812 Jackson St. managed by Manju Sah in LaCrosse, WI is easily in my Top 3 favorite meals I’ve eaten that featured food from India. It was so worth the 30 minute drive for us to escape our burger-pizza-sandwich town, to experience the New Taste of India. The servers were incredibly helpful, attentive, courteous, and professional. The atmosphere was warm, friendly and relaxing as a result of their efforts. The food was fantastic. We ordered the chicken tandoori (a test… most restaurants over-cook this dish, the New Taste of India did not , which came with a lovely and generous selection of vegetables cooked the way we like it (crisp-tender , the best dal I’ve ever eaten, and naan. We also ordered the Madras curry. This was the highlight of the meal… exceptionally flavorful, and highlighted all the warm-spicy spices and herbs we come to expect from really well-done food from India. We lapped up every last drop of the sauce with our rice and naan. We will definitely be returning soon for their lunch buffet just so we can get a nice sampler of all the other kinds of dishes they have to offer. Count us in as regulars… this is a true gem of a restaurant in LaCrosse. Keep doing what you were doing when we visited 6/3/2016 around 7pm. It was great!
I don't give many 5.0 ratings but did give this place one. Here's why. First off, the food was excellent, as was the service. The decor and atmosphere are very nice and very clean. I've been to my fair share of Indian restaurants in bigger cities, but this place is surviving in a small town. That is a reflection of their food and service. I will definitely be back!
Totaly surprising !!!!!!!!!!!. Amazing food and service .............. so happy!!!!!!!!!! all the time Bengal tiger is looking on us while we are having our dinner !!lol!1
La Crosse has a gem here. Whatever you order, you can't go wrong. Very tasty, authentic cuisine. Word of advice, this is not fast food that is, don't be in a hurry. Enjoy the moment. Service is very attentive, friendly, and unrushed.
Yum! Delicious Indian food. Great service. Definitely a gem in La Crosse!
