Iduki Ostatua - La Bastide-Clairence

While touring LBastide-Clairence we were fortunate to find this hidden gem. The menu is limited which was no problem as between the four of us we sampled all the offerings and they were wonderful.

This is a delightful hotel and restaurant located just at the base of La Bastide Clairence. I only had lunch here, but I bet the hotel is wonderful. My lunch was certainly delicious. The service was excellent. If the weather is nice, ask to sit on the terrace.

We enjoyed a very good dinner at Iduki. It was recommended by the owners of our hotel. It was quiet on a Wednesday evening with only two other tables of diners. The service was excellent and both the waiter and chef good company with excellent English. The food was very good particularly their local dish which included a superb black pudding. It was lovely to sit outside under the vines on a warm evening.

We came upon this charming restaurant totally by chance, and although late, we received a friendly welcome. At €15 the "menu d'etape" - salad starter, fish and dessert - was copious and delicious. Great service, lovely decor, definitely a great place for a family lunch or a romantic dinner.

We had the opportunity to dine here twice this April. Lovely food and great service. Chef has traveled the world with his previous employer and learned about many cuisines. For our second night, chef prepared a special menu combining his knowledge of different cuisines. What came out was a modern version of Basque food that has some Asian ingredients. Tres delicieux!
