On the other hand, the General Tao was not what we expected. The relatively large chunks of bland and stringy chicken were dry to the point of being tough. I am sure that is not what the General had in mind when he chose his favorite dish to feed his troops. Unfortunately, the unusually long wait for the main course and the level of noise coming from the few occupied tables this evening did not help matters and made it hard to relax and carry on a comfortable conversation. Popped into this chic restaurant while visiting La Baie. The service and interiors were fabulous. They have a very good menu too. We had the salmon tartar and the sea food linguine. Both were prepared well and tasted very good. The salon tartar was extremely fresh and so was the sea food in the linguine. The only criticism was the sauce used in the linguine was a bit too rich and heavy. Would have tasted better (in my opinion) if the sauce wasn’t so overpowering. Apart from that we had a very good experience at Opia. Would recommend it.
Each dish has an original twist while still being very tasty. I had the Spare Ribs with Canadian whiskey and they were just perfect. The service is also very friendly. Our waitress gave us great advices. In the sweet side, the tarte tatin is to die for! Make sure you leave a bit of space for it
My wife and I ate here during our recent visit to la Baie and the Saguenay region. It is a charming place, which makes you feel warm and welcome as you enter. After an appetizer each, I had moules marinieres and my wife had the chicken. Both were excellently cooked and presented, by well-trained waiters. We were able to buy half-bottles of wine (a whole bottle is too much for us). With dessert, tax and tip the bill was under $100. I recommend it highly and would certainly go there again if we are back in the neighbourhood.
Interesting plates, attentive and energetic staff, brilliant location. If you can, grab a seat on the patio and take in the sights of the waterside sector of La Baie. At any rate, you should drop in.
