Extremely attentive. Amazing food. This doesn't exist in other places.

Amazing traditional Japanese food and the restaurant owner gives a wonderful explanation of the food and the cultural monuments around the area. Definitely worth going to for an early lunch BEFORE going to see the rest of arashiyama as you will be told of the best spots that the tourist leaflets don't inform you of.

Wish I could give more stars. Don't expect frills, the food is meant to be simple with high quality ingredients so you can actually taste what you are eating. And the shop owner is amazing and gives a history and culture lesson through Google translate while you eat. Great for a real Japan experience.

This was one of the best experiences in Japan I had my whole trip. The owner of the restaurant was incredibly helpful even though we had a language barrier. He used a tablet to translate and even used it to show my group videos and pictures of the area. The Bento Box was amazing. Every section had a unique and amazing flavor. The next time I visit I hope I get to come here again.

The owner is the sweetest man. If you speak Japanese, he will tell you so much history about the city and the region. If you don't speak Japanese, he'll do his best! Usually with the help of his tablet and Google Translate. Either way, the food is absolutely spectacular. Everything from the simple dishes to the fancier traditional ones are of unbelievably high quality. Highly recommended!
