Sushi Naritaya - Kyoto

Amazing sushi! not sure whether it is my taste that differs from others, but a dozen sushi places rated with > 4.5 stars, this is probably the best sushi place during my one-month trip in japan. in contrast to other places, the sushi selection here is somewhat limited, but they serve some of the best unagi, anago, salmon, scallop and tuna sushi here. I am a great fan of aal and the anago (salt water ael) and unagi (fresh water ael) sushi here were the best I ever had. the place is run by 4 extremely friendly staff who can speak basic English so communication is not a problem. in my opinion this place is a special trip down, even if they do not visit the arashiyama area.

Love the sashimi here! So fresh and amazing! It’s definitely worth the wait. It’s a tiny place and we came around 1pm and there’s no line... lucky us! Friendly staff and chef!

My wife and I stumbled over this place after we tried to leave the crowded bambus forest. Among the typical tourist shops and restaurants, this hole is hidden in the wall, inconceivable location that we found out after the fact, is one of the best places to get sushi not only in kyoto, but in japan. the personal was incredibly friendly. they were eager to help as we have tried to order in our very broken japanese. the sushi (as seen below) was incredible. everything was shockingly fresh and artistic. the fatty tuna (or toro) was the highlight. not only was it very affordable, but it was so fresh, it felt almost as it melted in the mouth. actually, while I had a big talk with my brothers living in kyoto, my wife ordered another help from toro, everything for herself. this corner of kyoto is overcrowded and away touristy for the largest part, but this is a hidden gem that is worth it.

The hands on the best sushi we had in japan are our third cities.) easier place and simply delicious! portioning are generous and super reasonable. the most unique are their Maki roles that they cannot always find in japan. the personal is super nice and smiling. come back to my trip here!

Which is for a jewel. convenient and along the main strip is the sushi delicious. musashi is phenomenal and very personal with customers. the service is excellent. everything is made to order and as a result the sushi and sashimi and very fresh and tasteful. the salmon, unagi were our favorites. I would define that I will come back here. I highly recommend it.
