An incredible experience in eating, service and atmosphere. the restaurant is in English language unmarked and in contrast to the neighboring has no menu outside. it takes a second to find only zoom in max on google maps and it will be clear. that's worth it. there is a beautiful dining room. then the menu has a great variety. we choose from all the menu and everything was delicious. especially recommended: the aubergine and the shimmered vernacular. the personal was so attentive without being intrusive. we talked to the staff and I asked them if they knew about any tofu restaurants. he was not sure, but later in the meal he came back and had a list that he had secured before the survey of the other members of the team! for those who are curious/fearing about the price, it is not astonishing at all. we shared a few tellers, had dessert and a drink and it worked on $35.
The best meal we had in japan. from the interior to the service and ultimately the food was all so well valued felt warm and friendly and each dish was delivered attentively. the only place on our trip I can really say is not disappointed.
The best meal of our 3 weeks long slum week in japan. we chose the 6200 yen preset dinner from 9 curses and each cure was nice, tasty and much bigger in portion size than expected! the evening meal ended with peeled grapes covered in a harbour wine jelly. it was divine. the service was impeccable. we are coming back in definitiw!
4.5 stars. Kaseiki restaurant in Kyoto's Gion district. A bit difficult to find it's located on a bar district as opposed to the main restaurant district but this is a true hidden gem behind an obscure door. Inside, you will be asked to take off your shoes to sit in a traditional Japanese seating i.e. sit on the mat not chair (no worries it's very comfortable). We ordered several dishes sashimi, grilled chicken, pork belly stew, shrimp and broccoli in wasabi sauce, cold tofu, and seared eggplant. All were delicious in particular the grilled chicken a very simple but extremely well executed. The sashimi was probably the only let down only tasted ok the one we had in Tsukiji was much better. Service was prompt and warm and ambience was very nice. Well worth the price. Excellent meal.
