I opted for a build-your-own burger topped with mushrooms, fried onions, and Cooper sharp cheese, while my husband chose the hot roast beef sandwich. I added fresh-cut fries for an extra two dollars, and he went for the onion rings. Everything was excellent, and the service was fantastic. We sat in the bar area, but there's also a spacious dining room. Plus, there's ample off-street parking available. The prices are reasonable considering the generous portion sizes.
I recently visited family in Pennsylvania, and they chose this restaurant because they heard it might be closing soon. They had dined here before and were eager to come back. I'm not sure why it's shutting down, but it’s truly unfortunate. Everything we ordered was delightful. I opted for the honey-dipped fried chicken, which I haven't seen on a menu in ages. Those who tried the seafood dishes said they were excellent, though maybe slightly salty. The peanut butter frosting on the chocolate cake was absolutely heavenly. The service was attentive without being pushy, which was nice since we wanted to take our time and enjoy our conversation. I’m not sure if someone else will take over the space or if it will sadly remain empty, but we all had a wonderful experience during our visit.
This was our second visit to this restaurant, and we were once again impressed with both the food and service. It's never overly crowded, and there's plenty of parking available. They offer Wi-Fi, although I still had some difficulty getting phone service. The dining room and bar are very clean and inviting. It can be a bit tricky to locate, so if you enjoy it and plan to come back, I suggest saving it in your GPS. Additionally, it's not far from the Crystal Caverns. If you’re a fan of cold sandwiches, I highly recommend the Virginville Club, and the appetizer sampler is also excellent. Most importantly, the beer was served ice cold!
I don't know the area, as I am only passing by, and I may be a bit harsh, as I don't know how it compares to the rest of the neighborhood. However, this is not meant to be a bad review. The service is wonderful. We had a large party of 15 people. The menu is explosive! They have so many different things to order. They also have a good list of beers on draught, and the cutest glasswear. However, none of the food impressed me. One of their more interesting sides had multiple different types of potatoes, and while they were cooked well, they could have been seasoned better. I had their chicken special, and that was disappointing. Their crab cakes were not bad, and had a good amount of crab meat.
Second dinner here was excellent. Sunday afternoon (11/23) around 2:00 they were not very busy. We ordered from the Featured Items on the menu insert. I find that is almost always a good strategy. My wife had Broiled Monkfish with a butter/lemon sauce. She was concerned that the sauce might be overpowering but it was not. It was light and buttery with enough lemon to taste but not too strong at all. I had Pork Tenderloin with Apple Jack sauce. It was excellent. Tender and tasty. We shared Creme Brulee for desert. It was as good as I have had anywhere. It may be out of the way, but well worth the effort.
