Excellent beer selection. Found an Austrian stout from what appears to be an Austrian microbrew. Couldn't be happier. If you're a beer lover, come here.

Walked around Krems looking dinner after a long (100 km) day cycling. Needed protein and vegetables. Schmid's did not disappoint. The huftsteak (which I learned was rump steak) was a satisfying 220 gm and cooked exactly to my specification. I added a pepper sauce and a delicious side of grilled mixed veggies. It was all quite delicious. Schmid's has an extensive beer menu with 7 on tap and a comprehensive range of 80!bottled beers and ciders. In addition, a large number of wines are available. Service was very friendly (staff were fluent with English) and the establishment has an atmosphere that would not be out of place in any university town with touches of corrugated iron and rough sawn (but properly finished) timber and engaging background music. Should I return to Krems am Donau, I'll be coming back to Schmid's for sure.
