Derks Gutes Brot - Kranenburg

When visiting The Netherlands my family often drive to Germany to do some shopping. Why do you ask? Well just over the border food and petrol are a lot cheaper. Each time I have been we have stopped at Derks for lunch. This place serves the most delicious Hot Chocolate and fresh buns with tuna, ham, eggs, salads whatever you may want. Also they have a wonderful bakery and you can take home the most delicious rolls, bread, pastries or bickies. Well worth a stop for a quick bite before heading home. I had the house bread with Cesear, which means two slices of fresh house bread, smothered with I think a type of delicious mayo, beautiful cheese and chicken with a very small side salad. It was actually too big for me and two of us could have had a great bite to eat from the one serving. The service is pretty fast and they are very helpful should you not be able to speak English. Actually they are helpful in most European villages if they see you are trying to make an effort.

Nice place to drink tea and eat some snacks or sweets. Delicious cackes and other small sweet things ;) Enjoyed it :)

We come here regularly to take a hot drink and a cheese cake. They offer a wide number of different cheese cakes, all are very tasty. Their coffee and hot chocolate match very well with their pastries, it is a pleasure to take here the...time for a break, breakfast of lunch. The various kind of breads and buns are quality products. Service is efficient with a smile. The prices are very reasonable.

We are buying our bread and sandwiches here now for may years, even buying bread for our kids, when they come to visit. Price/quality is excellent, good opening hours, they open early in the morning. Very popular, on Sundays people are coming from upto buy their brötchen.

Early morning we drove through Kranenburg and stopped at this Konditorei We ordered some buns/sanwitches with a variety of cheese and meat and some pastries, Kasekuuchen The coffee and hot chocolate is good The service is very friendly and efficient A...good place to take a rest and to taste the local pastries and bites.
