Baan Ton Mai Cafe' Krabi Thailand

This cafe is an amazing place amidst the forest and water stream. Plenty of nice spots to discover like in a nature maze, and shady places to relax and unwind. The tree house is well built and fun to climb.

Displaying a large H&S sign at the entrance there were many unsafe issues here for older visitors. Missing handrails on stairs, low balustrades on high platforms, open and uneven planks over water, trip hazards on most footpaths…… Foodservice also was chaotic from ordering, to poor table service, missed orders and closed off seating. All in all very disappointing venue due to very low or non existent maintenance.

This quaint Thai restaurant is located beachside in a remote part of Krabi, i.e. Nong Tha Ley Muang. The food offerings are extensive and includes various types, i.e. Italian, Thai, seafood. Cocktails are great, and while the wine list is limited, the selections are very good. Dinner is served while overlooking the beach and sea. Wait staff were kind, although their English limited (but much better than my Thai! . Service was very good, and the price of our meals could not be beat. We patronized twice, and the cost of our two meals (including combined appetizer, cocktails, wine, main entrees was approximately $55 USD each. I note my squid ink pasta with octopus dish cost about $8 USD. I would have paid much more than that in the States. On the second visit, we were comped a lovely mixed fruit dessert. Coming to this restaurant would be worth the 500 Baht (or $15 USD cab ride from Ao Nang Beach area. I hope to come here again!

Overall, it’s good, the taste of the drink is okay. Delicious coconut cake.

Cool place with good atmosphere and nice little corners to have your coffee. They do a pretty good coffee (the non-sweet kind! which we enjoyed! Only thing is there are 2 elephants chained up and confined to a tiny space right outside their cafe. I hope it’s not related. Hope the cafe business can do well enough to help these elephants out.
